Dvd cloner amazon2/26/2024 ![]() Some parts need completely fixing because they did the character animation at 12FPS, then did the scene comp at 24FPS (probably in ToonBoom), then they telecined it to 29.97FPS where they did the final edit. I'm reinserting deleted scenes that were cut for time and fixing the soundtrack to fit the new scenes. I'm currently working on Futurama seasons 1-4 and the first two features. I get a much bigger file, sometimes three, maybe four times the size, but definitely superior in quality. It's not perfect, but it does look nice, compared to the source. You probably wouldn't like that I do that, but grain helps hide things like banding and blue-blocking. In some cases, for stuff that's not available in 1080 home media, but is available as such on streaming sites, then I take the stream and use AI to remove compression artefacts and readd detail such as grain from available data (I use grain profiles based on film stock / camera data). ![]() I hate transcoding too! Especially when the original encode is terrible. I think they shot it on 16mm with a really fast stock through what appears to be some kind of Mega Stopper ND filter, so it's super grainy. I like to preserve the filmgrain I've noticed a lot of the pirate community run denoisers which invariably trash the artistic quality in favour of throttling bitrate. They're 10% the size of the source and imperceptibly compressed. Gorgeous, perfectly preserved in a HEVC stream, wrapped in a robust, custom MP4 container, chapter markers, custom thumbnails, correctly labelled audio streams, and brimming with meticulously entered metadata. I spent the last ten years perfecting my rips for my snazzy little media server. Especially when they're using 480 i footage and not bothering to deinterlacing it. I don't need to plead my case to you about studios being lazy and using a terrible upscaler. Just make sure to tag the post with the flair and give a little background info/context.
